They are closely related to Pasque flower (Pulsatilla) and Hepatica (Hepatica); some botanists include both of these genera within Anemone.

The plants are perennial herbs with an underground rootstock, and radical, more or less deeply cut, leaves. The elongated flower stem bears one or several, white, red, blue or rarely yellow, flowers; there is an involucre of three leaflets below each flower. The fruits often bear long hairy styles which aid their distribution by the wind (windflower is a common name sometimes used for members of the genus). - wiki

Anemone nemorosa is an early-spring flowering plant in the Genus Anemone in the family Ranunculaceae. Common names include wood anemone, windflower, European thimbleweed and smell fox. They are perennial herbaceous plants, growing in early spring from 5 to 15 cm tall. Plants start blooming soon after the foliage emerges from the ground, with the leaves parted into three segments and the flowers produced in the middle of the foliage on short stems above the foliage with one flower per stem. The plants grow from underground stems called rhizomes. The plants die back down to the root-like rhizomes by mid summer (summer dormant). The rhizomes spread just below the soil surface, forming long spreading clumps that grow quickly, contributing to its rapid spread in woodland conditions, where they often carpet large areas. – wiki

Allium is the onion genus, with about 1250 species, making it one of the largest plant genera in the world. They are perennial bulbous plants that produce chemical compounds that give them a characteristic onion or garlic taste and odor, and many are used as food plants. Allium is classified in family Alliaceae although some classifications have included it in the lily family (Liliaceae). Most bulbous alliums increase by forming little bulbs or offsets around the old one, as well as by seed. Several species can form many bulbils (tiny bulbs) in the flowerhead. – wiki

Sunflowers in the bud stage exhibit heliotropism. At sunrise, the faces of most sunflowers are turned towards the east. Over the course of the day, they move to track the sun from east to west, while at night they return to an eastward orientation. This motion is performed by motor cells in the pulvinus, a flexible segment of the stem just below the bud. As the bud stage ends, the stem stiffens and the blooming stage is reached. – wiki

Osteospermum is a genus belonging to the Calenduleae, one of the smaller tribes of the sunflower family (Asteraceae). There are about 50 species, native to Africa, 35 species in southern Africa, and southwestern Arabia. They are half-hardy perennials or subshrubs. Therefore they do not survive outdoor wintery conditions, but there is still a wide range of hardiness.

Their alternate (rarely opposite) leaves are green, but some beautiful variegated forms exist. The leaf form is lanceolate. The leaf margin is entire, but hardy types are toothed.

The daisy-like flowers consists of disc florets and ray florets, growing solitary at the end of branches or sometimes in inflorescences of terminal corymbose cymes. The disc florets are pseudo-bisexual and come in several colors such as blue, yellow and purple. The hardy types usually show a dark blue center in the disc until the yellow pollen is shed. The ray florets are female and are found diverse colors such as white, cream, pink, purple, mauve to yellow. – wiki

Nelumbo nucifera is known by a number of common names, including blue lotus, Indian lotus, sacred lotus, bean of India, and sacred water-lily. Botanically, Nelumbo nucifera (Gaertn.) may also be referred to by its former names, Nelumbium speciosum (Wild.) or Nymphaea nelumbo. This plant is an aquatic perennial, but if its seeds are preserved under favorable circumstances, they may remain viable for many years.

In ancient Egypt, Nelumbo nucifera was unknown, being introduced only at the time of the Persian invasions, late in ancient Egyptian history. The ancient Egyptians venerated the blue water-lily, Nymphaea caerulea, which was sometimes known as the blue lotus or sacred lotus.

N. nucifera was native to a huge area from modern Vietnam to Afghanistan, being spread widely as an ornamental and food plant. In 1787 it was first brought into horticulture in Western Europe as a stove-house water-lily under the patronage of Sir Joseph Banks and can be seen in modern botanical garden collections where heating is provided. Today it is rare or extinct in the wild in Africa but widely naturalized in southern Asia and Australia, where it is commonly cultivated in water gardens. It is the National Flower of India. – wiki

Most are very common in the temperate regions of Europe, Asia, and America as well as in North Africa, and South Africa and some are naturalised in Australia. M. occidentalis is native in North America; other species are introduced. These are hardy, pleasantly aromatic annuals, growing along roadsides, in ruderal soils, and fallow land, rich in nutrients. Many are considered nuisance weeds. However they are suitable for rock gardens, herb gardens and as border plants. – wiki

They have large bright yellow, orange or red flowers, some with eye-spots at the base of the petals, in a variety of shades: brown, black, white or some combination thereof. These large, beautiful flowers have made them popular in gardens and has lead to extensive cultivation. Whilst the ease with which they hybridize has added to their popularity as an ornamental, this characteristic can make identification and taxonomic delimitation problematic. The free screensaver, Treasure Flower, was created by RateMyScreensaver.com and contains 12 high resolution images of the treasure flower.

The common snowdrop (Galanthus nivalis) is the best-known representative of a small genus of about 20 species in the family Amaryllidaceae that are among the first bulbs to bloom in spring.

Snowdrops should not be confused with their relatives Snowflakes, Leucojum species; leucojums are much larger and flower in spring (or early summer, depending on the species), with all six petals in the flower the same size, though it should be noted that some “poculiform” (slipper-shaped) Galanthus can have inner segments similar in length to the outer ones.

All species of Galanthus have bulbs, linear leaves, and erect flowering stalks, destitute of leaves but bearing at the top a solitary pendulous bell-shaped flower. Galanthus nivalis grows 15 cm tall, flowering in January or February in the northern temperate zone. The white flower has six petals, the outer three segments being larger and more convex than the inner series. The six anthers open by pores or short slits. The ovary is three-celled, ripening into a three-celled capsule. – wiki

Poinsettias are shrubs to small trees, typically reaching a height of 0.6 to 4 m (2 to 16 ft). The plant bears dark green dentate leaves that measure 7 to 16 cm (3 to 6 inches) in length. The top leaves, known as bracts, are flaming red, pink, or white and are often mistaken as flowers. The Blue Passion Flower (Passiflora caerulea), also known as the Common Passion Flower, is a vine native to southern Brazil and Argentina (where it is known as the Pasionaria or Mburucuyá in Guaraní).

It is popular with gardeners because of its intricate, scented flowers that have an almost plastic-looking appearance. The unusual shape of the flowers has led to the plant being associated in Christian symbolism with the passion of Jesus; the three stigmas representing the three nails used to nail Jesus to the cross, the ovary and its stalk represent the chalice of the Last Supper, the five anthers represent the five wounds, the corona represents the crown of thorns, the ten ‘petals’ (actually five petals and five sepals) the apostles (save Judas the traitor and Peter the denyer); the old leaves also represent the hands of those who persecuted him, the young leaves the point of the lance used to stab him, and the tendrils the whips of those who beat him. – wiki
